Kevin G. Martin
Master of Ceremonies – Male Vocalist
Born under the sign of Libra, I began singing at a very early age.
I was raised in Springfield Gardens N.Y., which at the time seem to have a band on every block. Sounds of all kinds – in particular the radio – really fascinated me. In junior high school, I learned to play my first musical instrument which was the trombone. A lifelong passion for music was ignited.
By my first year of high school, I became more involved with singing and developed a liking for the piano. I did not know at the time how important having a working knowledge of the piano would help me as a singer. I played in two local bands during my formative years; The Pamoja Brothers and Midtown T.N.T. Midtown T.N.T. became the house band for a club in Brooklyn, N.Y. called the 2001 Odyssey – one of the hottest clubs in N.Y. at the time, and was used in the film Saturday Night Fever. It was there that my skills as a singer and entertainer were forged. I opened for such acts as The Stylistics, First Choice, Kool and the Gang, and The Joneses, to name a few. It was at the 2001 Odyssey that I studied the headline acts and learned more about song selection, crowd interaction, and the subtle things that make a good singer and entertainer. Later on, I was given the opportunity to go on the road with Anthony Gourdine (Little Anthony and the Imperials), where our first date was at Madison Square Garden before heading to Miami, New Orleans and finally Toronto, Canada.
